Leash Installation Instructions

REFLEKT boards do not come standard with a leash installed in the board. This is because most riders
have a personal preference as to where on the board they want their leash configured. Some prefer
their leash placed closer to the left side, some closer to the right, and some prefer them installed
centered on the board. Whichever your preference, installing a leash is quick and easy.
Installing a leash requires only a few tools and should take no more than 5 minutes. The following lists the tools you’ll need to install a leash in your board:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Pencil
  • Tape Measure or Ruler

Once you have your new REFLEKT board and your tools, follow these steps to install the leash:

STEP 1

Option 1: Leash installed in the center.
Measure 6-8 inches (15-20 centimeters) down from the nose (top) of your board and mark the board
with a pencil.
Measure the width of the board while the tape measure or ruler is aligned with the center mark on the
board.
Mark the board in the center of this width at the height where the first mark was made. This point
represents the center of the board 6-8 inches down from the nose.

Option 2: Leash installed near the left or right side of the board.
NOTE: If you are installing a leash on a 42-inch board, be sure to not install the leash along where the
stringers are placed.
Measure 6-8 inches (15-20 centimeters) down from the nose (top) of your board and mark the board
with a pencil.
With a ruler or tape measure aligned horizontally with the pencil mark, make another pencil mark in the
desired location for the leash. This point represents the location you’ve selected to install your leash on
either the left or right side of the board.

Step 2

With the board deck side up on a sturdy surface such as table, ensure that the leash installation point
itself is not directly on top of the surface. You will be pushing a screwdriver through the board, so it is
important that the installation point is not directly on the surface you are using for support.

While holding your board, slowly push the Phillips screwdriver through the point you’ve marked on your
board for leash installation. As you reach the slick (bottom) of the deck you will feel resistance. Continue
to push until the screwdriver completely clears the other side of the board.
Gently twist the screwdriver in a circular motion to widen the hole enough for leash plug installation.

Step 3

Your leash comes with a rubber coil leash and leash plug. Before installing the leash, untie the leash
from the leash plug. Take note of how the leash was tied, as you’ll be retying this in the following step.
Your leash plug is assembled with male and female components that need to be unscrewed. Once you
have unscrewed the leash plug, turn the board over with the slick side up. Push the female part of the
leash plug through the hole.
On the deck side, insert the male part and screw the two parts together. Use the flathead screwdriver to
tighten the leash plug by inserting it into the slotted hole on the leash plug and turning clockwise.

Step 4

Now that your leash plug is installed, tie the leash back to the plug and you’re all set to ride!
